These women have all donated their art to the cause. I am so grateful.
Parusha Naidoo
Parusha Naidoo is a South African artist based in Cape Town. She is so beautiful. She creates images and stories that unify people across the world. The goal of her work is to spread joy and ignite curiosity in others. Her art is often focused on black, brown and indigenous women and explores their relationship to food, food justice and food stories. She is one of my favourite artists.
Nardstar
Nardstar is my favourite graffiti artist. She uses a geometric style and lettering. Her work is all over Cape Town including at Philippi Village. My mom and I love her. She does massive murals, and has even done one on a silo. When I was very little I saw her work at the aquarium and I loved it. It's so awesome that she dominates a space that many people say is for men.
Serisha Barrat
Serisha Barrat, she is a founder and CEO of Lawyered UP. She has also experienced GBV herself and is using her voice to speak up, and speak out. She is almost 30 and is doing projects that use technology to support people, which has positive socio-economic impacts. I haven’t really seen her art before, but wanted to include her work in this series.
The GBV– T Collection
This is a collection of Tees that feature black and brown female artists. Each T-shirt has my logo in front and the art work at the back.
Call to action
I would like to produce many more T-shirts featuring amazing artists. I need support with printers and T-shirt suppliers please.
All proceeds will go to the safe space we are creating.
